Preheat oven 400°F. Beat shortening, sugar, vanilla and egg until light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients beat until well mixed. Melt candy, cut in with a knife-do not mix or stir in.
Using a scoop, place on ungreased cookie pan. Flatten with bottom of a sugar-coated glass.
Bake 8-10 minutes.
