Preheat oven to 400°F. Beat shortening, sugar and egg until light and fluffy. In separate bowl, mix together dry ingredients, including nuts, raisins or chocolate chips. Add mashed bananas to shortening mixture and blend together. Slowly add dry ingredients and blend well.
Drop by rounded tsp. about 1 1/2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 12-15 minutes. When cooled slightly, frost with your favorite powdered sugar icing.
