Beat butter, sugar, and eggs till creamy. Add almond extract and few drops of food coloring till desired tint. Mix dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Stir in cherries and nuts.
Make balls size of small walnut; roll in dry Jell-O; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 400°F for 7 - 9 minutes.
