Original recipe yields 1 serving
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 lb cheap steak (chuck, round)
1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/8 tsp. garlic powder)
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 can (1 lb.) tomatoes
1 tsp oregano
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
Pepper to taste
1/4 cup red wine

Heat olive oil in cast iron frying pan with cover over medium high heat. Brown the meat on both sides - about 3 minutes a side. Last minute add the garlic.

Add remaining ingredients, bring to boil.

Reduce to simmer and cook covered 1.5 hours until meat is tender.
