Blend pudding mix and milk in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add margarine or butter, stirring until melted. Heat mixture just to a boil; remove from heat.
Stir in vanilla and powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Add marshmallows. Spread into lightly greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan; cool.
Chill until firm. Cut into squares to serve.
