Nothing says summer like strawberry shortcakes! Especially when the berries are sweet and cakes are made from scratch.
What You Need
Original recipe yields 6 servings
4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
1/4 cup sugar
2-1/3 cups all-purpose baking mix
1/2 cup milk
3 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

Let's Make It
Heat oven to 425°F.
Toss strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar.
Stir baking mix, milk, 3 Tbsp. sugar and butter in large bowl until mixture forms soft dough. Drop into 6 mounds, 2 inches apart, on baking sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 min. or until golden brown. Cool slightly.
Split shortcakes; fill and top with strawberries and COOL WHIP.
Prepare using low-fat all-purpose baking mix, margarine and COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping.
These easy-to-make shortcakes make great desserts to serve at a summer dinner party.
For a more decadent dessert, add 6 squares chopped BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate to the shortcake dough before baking. Assemble desserts as directed, then drizzle with your favorite chocolate sauce just before serving.
