Original recipe yields 4 servings
1/2 cup granular no-calorie sweetener
3 cups water
2 Tbsp. MAXWELL HOUSE Naturally Decaffeinated Instant Coffee
1 cinnamon stick
4 fresh pears, peeled
1/4 cup thawed COOL WHIP LITE Whipped Topping

Let's Make It
Mix granulated sweetener, water and coffee granules in large saucepan. Add cinnamon stick. Bring to boil on medium-high heat, stirring frequently.
Add pears; partially cover pan with lid. Simmer on medium-low heat 20 min. or just until pears are tender, stirring after 10 min.
Remove pears from pan with slotted spoon; discard cinnamon stick and liquid. Serve pears warm topped with COOL WHIP and a light sprinkling of ground cinnamon.
How to Test for Doneness
Test the doneness of the cooked pears by piercing the base of each pear with the tip of a sharp knife. If it doesn't meet any resistance, then it is done.
To serve as a chilled dessert, cook pears as directed; remove from liquid. Cool pears completely, then refrigerate up to 24 hours. Serve as directed.
