This simple skillet dinner has all the flavor of a slow-cooked roast, complete with tender apples, without the fuss.

Original recipe yields 4 servings
4 bone-in pork chops (1 lb.), 3/4 inch thick
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1 onion, sliced
2 Tbsp. KRAFT Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
1-1/2 cups instant white rice, uncooked
1 can (14-1/2 oz.) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 cup water
2 McIntosh apples, sliced
1 tsp. dried thyme leaves

Cook chops in large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium-high heat 4 min. on each side or just until evenly browned.

Add mushrooms, onions and dressing; cook 2 min.

Stir in remaining ingredients; simmer on medium-low heat 15 min. or until chops are done (145ºF), rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat; cover. Let stand 3 min. before serving.

Variation
Prepare as directed, using instant brown rice and letting the finished dish stand (off the heat) 5 min. before serving.
Substitute
Prepare using your favorite variety of cooking apple, such as Granny Smith, Rome Beauty or York Imperial.
