Original recipe yields 6 servings
1 pkg. (13.25 oz.) whole wheat blend penne pasta
1/2 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
1 lb. Italian turkey sausage link s, sliced
1 small onion, chopped
1 jar (24 oz.) CLASSICO Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
1/3 cup KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Cook pasta as directed on package, omitting salt.
Meanwhile, cook mushrooms in large skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat 3 to 5 min. or until tender, stirring frequently. Drain mushrooms; discard liquid. Return mushrooms to skillet. Add sausage and onions; cook 6 to 8 min. or until sausage is done, stirring occasionally. Stir in sauce; cook 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.
Drain pasta; place on serving platter. Top with sauce; sprinkle with cheese.
Substitute Italian chicken sausage links or crumbled lean ground beef for the Italian turkey sausage links.
Add 1/4 cup sliced black olives or 1 small green pepper, cut into strips, along with the sausage and onions.
