This COOL WHIP Football Cake is one of the easiest ways we know of to please the gridiron fans in the house. It's a two-ingredient touchdown!

1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed

Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 13x9-inch pan. Cool completely.

Remove cake from pan. Trim corners and sides of cake to resemble football. Reserve trimmings for another use. (See tip.) Place cake on large platter or cake board.

Frost with COOL WHIP.

Easy Football Field Cake
Bake cake, then cool and remove from pan as directed. Tint COOL WHIP with a few drops green food coloring; spread onto top and sides of cake. Draw yard lines on top of cake with decorating icing. Place toy football players on cake. Add other decorations as desired.

How to Use the Cake Trimmings
Store cake trimmings in airtight container. Crumble over scoops of vanilla ice cream for a quick dessert.

How to Bake in Football-Shaped Cake Pan
Prepare cake batter as directed; pour into well-greased and floured football-shaped (2-layer-size) cake pan. Bake 55 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely. Continue as directed.
