Let's Make It
Cook bacon in large skillet until crisp. Remove from skillet, reserving 1 Tbsp. drippings in skillet. Drain bacon on paper towels.
Place asparagus in microwaveable casserole. Add water; cover with waxed paper. Microwave on HIGH 4 to 5 min. or until asparagus is crisp-tender. Meanwhile, cook and stir onions in reserved drippings 5 min. or until crisp-tender. Add Neufchatel, dressing and milk; cook 3 to 5 min. or until Neufchatel is melted and sauce is slightly thickened, stirring frequently.
Drain asparagus; place on platter. Drizzle with sauce. Crumble bacon; sprinkle over asparagus.
Substitute fresh green beans for the asparagus.
Cut the asparagus into 1-1/2-inch lengths before microwaving. Drain, then toss with sauce before topping with bacon.
Trimming Fresh Asparagus
Asparagus spears snap off naturally where they are tough. Simply bend the spear near the bottom end and it will break off at the right point. Or, remove an inch or so of the "woody" portion off the bottom of the stalks with a sharp knife.
