These chocolate-studded blondies are scrumptious, simple to make, and the perfect dessert to bring to a Halloween party.

Original recipe yields 20 servings
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pkg. (4 oz.) BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Melt the butter in a sauce pan. Turn off the heat.

Stir in the brown sugar — there is no need to melt the sugar, it will be the consistency of wet sand.

Stir in the egg and then the vanilla.

In a separate bowl, mix the baking powder with the salt and the flour.

Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ones.

Pour the batter into a buttered 10x7 baking dish. It is a stiff batter and you may need to gently help it to the edges of the pan with a rubber spatula. It will be a thin layer.

Break chocolate into pieces then coarsely chop the pieces with a sharp knife. It is fine if some are small and some are large. Sprinkle the pieces over the top of the batter.

Bake for 20-25 minutes. Do not over bake. Let brownies cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into rectangles, about 1.5 inches wide.
