1 lb. lean ground beef
1/4 cup KRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing
1 green pepper, cut into thin strips
8 slices (3/4 inch thick) Italian bread
3 Tbsp. butter

Shape meat into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties. Heat dressing in large skillet. Add peppers; cook and stir 4 to 5 min. or until crisp-tender. Remove from skillet; cover to keep warm. Add patties to same skillet; cook on medium heat 5 to 6 min. or until done (165°F).
Spread one cut side of each bread slice with butter. Place 4 of the bread slices, butter sides down, on baking sheet. Top each with hamburger, cheese slice, peppers and remaining bread slices, butter sides up.
Broil, 4 inches from heat, 1 to 2 min. on each side or until golden brown.
Serve with a mixed green salad tossed with your favorite KRAFT Dressing.
Mix 1 minced garlic glove into ground beef before shaping into patties.
