Heat dressing in large saucepan on medium heat. Add onions; cook and stir 2 min. or until crisp-tender. Add tomatoes, broth, water, tomato sauce, sage and pepper; mix well. Bring to boil; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 20 min., stirring occasionally.
Blend tomato mixture, in small batches, in blender container until smooth. Return each puréed batch to saucepan. Bring to boil. Add pasta; cook 3 to 5 min. or until tender.
Serve topped with cheese.
Substitute 1 tsp. crushed dried sage for the fresh sage.
Sprinkle with chopped additional fresh sage before serving.
