Kitchen Tips
Tip 1
How to Peel Yuca
The thick skin of yuca should be peeled and the fibrous core that runs down the center should be removed before using.
Tip 2
Special Extra
Boost up the spice level by adding 1/2 tsp. each crushed red pepper and black pepper with the yuca.
Tip 3
Substitute
Lamb makes a great substitute for the beef. Use trimmed lamb shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes.
Tip 4
Food Facts
Yuca is a root that ranges from 6 to 12 inches in length and 2 to 3 inches in diameter. This crunchy tuber has a tough brown skin and a crisp, white flesh. Originally, yuca is a native to South America and there are only 2 main categories: bitter & sweet. Yuca is used as a thickener in the making of tapioca and other dishes.
Tip 5
Substitute
Simply prepare using thawed, frozen yuca for the fresh yuca.
