Original recipe yields 6 servings
1/4 cup butter
3 onions, thinly sliced
1 Tbsp. flour
4-1/2 cups water
1/3 cup LEA & PERRINS Worcestershire Sauce
2 tsp. WYLER’S Instant Bouillon Beef Flavored Granules
6 French bread slices (1 inch thick), toasted

Melt butter in large saucepan on medium heat. Add onions; cook 7 to 8 min. or until tender, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle with flour; cook and stir 1 min.

Add water, Worcestershire sauce and bouillon; stir. Bring to boil; simmer on medium-low heat 15 min.

Ladle soup over toast slices in 6 soup bowls just before serving.

Variation

French Onion Soup
Prepare recipe as directed, using ovenproof soup bowls. Heat broiler. Top each filled bowl with 1 KRAFT Slim Cut Swiss Cheese Slice. Broil, 4 inches from heat, 3 to 5 min. or until cheese is melted and golden brown.
