3/4 cup butter, divided
1 cup packed brown sugar, divided
3 Granny Smith apple s (1 lb.), peeled, sliced
2 Tbsp. PLANTERS Sliced Almonds
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. apple pie spice
2 egg s
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Heat oven to 350°F.

Melt 1/4 cup butter in small saucepan on medium heat. Add 1/4 cup sugar; cook 1 min. or until sugar is completely dissolved, stirring occasionally. Pour into 9-inch round pan. Top with apples; sprinkle with nuts. Set aside.

Mix flour, baking powder and spice; set aside. Beat remaining butter and remaining sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in extract. Add flour mixture; beat just until blended. Gently spread over apples.

Bake 40 to 45 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately run knife or metal spatula around rim of pan to loosen cake; invert onto serving plate. Cool completely.
