What You Need
Original recipe yields 12 servings
2-3/4 cups flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 Tbsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
1-1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
1 small apple, finely chopped
1/4 cup PLANTERS Sliced Almonds, toasted

1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Let's Make It
Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and spices in large bowl until blended. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in apples and nuts. Whisk eggs, applesauce and almond extract until blended. Add to flour mixture; mix until blended.
Divide dough in half; place on baking sheet. Shape into 2 rounds (5 inches wide and about 3/4 inches high). Using a wet sharp knife, cut each round into 6 wedges; separate each wedge, using knife, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch apart from each other. Freeze 25 to 30 min.
Heat oven to 425ºF. Bake 18 to 22 min. or until golden brown and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Cool on baking sheet 10 min. Separate into wedges. Serve warm or at room temperature.
How to Store Leftover Scones
Cool scones completely; wrap in plastic wrap and store at room temperature 3 days. Or, wrap scones and place into a resealable freezer bag. Store in freezer up to 1 month.
Brush tops of rounds with about 1 Tbsp. milk and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before freezing and baking.
Drizzle baked scones with a cinnamon glaze. Simply combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon and slowly add 1 to 2 tsp. milk until mixture is of drizzling consistency.
