Original recipe yields 12 servings
4 lb. Granny Smith apple s, peeled, cored and each cut into 8 wedges
1 cup apple juice
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice

Bring ingredients to boil in saucepan on medium-high heat. Simmer on low heat 25 to 30 min. or until apples are very soft and break apart easily, stirring occasionally.

Mash apple mixture with potato masher until desired consistency.

Refrigerate until chilled.

Tip 1
Special Extra
Like cinnamon flavor? Just add a cinnamon stick to the apples as they cook. Remove cinnamon stick from ingredients in saucepan before mashing the apples. Return cinnamon stick to applesauce before refrigerating; discard before serving applesauce. Or for a sweeter applesauce, add 1 to 3 Tbsp. brown sugar to ingredients in saucepan before cooking as directed.
