Heat oil in Dutch oven or large deep skillet on medium heat. Add chicken, skin sides down; cook 3 to 5 min. on each side or until golden brown on both sides. Add garlic; cook 4 min. or lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
Mix pasta sauce and chicken broth until blended; pour over chicken. Add thyme; bring to boil, stirring frequently. Cover; simmer on medium-low heat 35 to 45 min. or until chicken is done (165ºF).
Serve with hot cooked pasta.
