4-1/2 tsp. MAXWELL HOUSE Instant Coffee, divided
1 pkg. (2-layer size) devil's food cake mix
2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, divided
2 oz. BAKER'S Bittersweet Chocolate

Heat oven to 375ºF.

Whisk egg and 1 Tbsp. (3 tsp.) coffee in large bowl until coffee is dissolved. Add dry cake mix and 1 cup COOL WHIP; beat with mixer until blended. (Dough will be stiff.)

Shape into 32 balls, using about 2 tsp. dough for each ball.

Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheets sprayed with cooking spray.

Bake 8 min. or just until edges of cookies are set. (Do not overbake.) Cool on baking sheet 2 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

Melt chocolate as directed on package. Add remaining coffee; stir until dissolved. Gently stir in remaining COOL WHIP until blended. Spread over cookies.
