What You Need
Original recipe yields 24 servings
1 pkg. (2-layer size) golden cake mix
3/4 cup butter, melted, divided
3 egg s, divided
1/4 cup finely chopped PLANTERS Almonds, toasted
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Neufchatel Cheese, softened
1 pkg. (16 oz.) powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Heat oven to 350°F.
Mix cake mix, 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 egg and nuts until blended. Press into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.
Beat Neufchatel, remaining eggs and butter in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gradually add sugar and extract, mixing on low speed until blended. Spread over mixture in pan.
Bake 40 to 50 min. or until edges are golden brown and center is slightly gooey and jiggles slightly (Do not overbake). Cool completely.
Enjoy a serving of this easy-to-make cake on occasion, but keep portion size in mind. One cake makes enough for 24 servings.
Prepare using your favorite variety of cake mix.
Substitute 1/2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract for the 1/4 tsp. almond extract.
How to Toast Nuts
Toasting nuts adds crunch and intensifies their flavor. To toast nuts in the oven, spread nuts in single layer in shallow baking pan. Bake at 350°F for 8 to 10 min. or until golden brown, stirring occasionally. To toast nuts on the stovetop, place nuts in ungreased skillet. Cook on medium heat until golden brown, stirring frequently. To toast nuts in the microwave, place up to 1 cup of nuts in a microwaveable shallow dish. Microwave on HIGH until fragrant and crisp, stirring every 30 sec.
