What You Need
Original recipe yields 4 servings
1 cup flour
2 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 cup sugar, divided
1/4 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
1/3 cup milk

Let's Make It
Heat oven to 450°F.
Combine first 4 ingredients in medium bowl; stir in 3 Tbsp. sugar.
Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk; stir with fork just until mixture forms soft dough.
Place on lightly floured surface; gently pat into 8x4-inch rectangle with floured hands. Cut into 4 pieces with floured sharp knife.
Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheet; sprinkle with remaining sugar.
Bake 20 to 25 min. or until golden brown. Cool.
Dessert can be a part of a balanced diet, but remember to keep tabs on portions.
Strawberry Shortcake Recipe
Toss 1 cup sliced strawberries with additional 2 Tbsp. sugar. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Meanwhile, prepare shortcakes as directed; cool completely. To assemble desserts, split shortcakes horizontally in half. Spoon strawberries onto bottom halves of shortcakes; top with thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping. Cover with tops of shortcakes.
