Original recipe yields 24 servings
1-1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup almond paste
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. lemon zest
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/4 cup milk
1 cup chopped PLANTERS Almonds, divided
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, thinly sliced

Heat oven to 350°F.
Combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.
Beat butter, almond paste and sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, lemon zest and almond extract; mix well. Gradually add flour mixture alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 3/4 cup nuts.
Pour into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray. Arrange apple slices over batter; sprinkle with remaining nuts.
Bake 40 to 45 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly or to room temperature.
Prepare recipe as directed, except substitute 2 (9-inch) round pans for the 13x9-inch pan. Bake in 350ºF oven 35 to 40 min. or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min. Remove from pans to wire racks; cool completely.
