Original recipe yields 4 servings
4 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices
1/2 lb. sliced fresh mushrooms
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 jar (24 oz.) CLASSICO Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce
1/2 lb. spaghetti, uncooked
3 Tbsp. KRAFT Grated Parmesan Cheese

Cook and stir bacon in large saucepan on medium heat until crisp. Use slotted spoon to remove bacon from pan; drain on paper towels. Discard all but 1 Tbsp. drippings from pan.

Add mushrooms, onions and carrots to reserved drippings; cook 5 to 8 min. or until mushrooms are tender with their liquid is cooked off, stirring frequently. Remove vegetables from saucepan.

Brown ground beef in same saucepan; drain. Add pasta sauce and bacon; mix well. Bring to boil. Cover; simmer on medium-low heat 15 min., stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, cook spaghetti in separate pan as directed on package, omitting salt.

Drain spaghetti, reserving 1/2 cup of the cooking water. Add spaghetti to meat sauce; mix lightly. If necessary, add enough of the reserved cooking water until sauce is of desired consistency. Serve topped with cheese.

Substitute
Substitute 1/2 lb. crumbled Italian sausage for half of the ground beef.
Special Extra
If you like a touch of heat, add 1/8 tsp. crushed red pepper to the browned ground beef in saucepan along with the pasta sauce and cooked bacon.
