Cook bacon in medium skillet until crisp. Remove bacon from skillet, reserving 2 Tbsp drippings in skillet. Drain bacon on paper towels.
Add onions to reserved drippings; cook on medium heat 5 to 7 min. or until golden brown, stirring frequently.
Mix ground beef and dry seasonings just until blended; shape into 6 (1/2-inch-thick) patties. Grill 4 to 5 min. on each side or until done (160°F), adding buns, cut sides down, to the grill to toast for the last minute of the burger grilling time.
Chop bacon coarsely; mix with cream cheese spread until blended. Spread onto bottom halves of buns. Fill buns with lettuce, tomatoes, burgers and onions.
Ensuring Food Safety by Checking Meat Temperature
The easiest way to ensure that cooked meat or poultry is done is to check the internal temperature with an instant-read meat thermometer. Simply insert the thermometer into the thickest part of the meat or poultry, avoiding any bones. For food safety, poultry should be cooked to 165°F. Beef steaks should be cooked to 145°F while ground beef needs to be cooked to 160°F. Pork steaks and roasts should be cooked to a minimum of 145°F. Ground pork should be cooked to 160°F.
Add a fresh fruit platter to the menu and you'll have the makings for easy party fare.
